WCSC reporter Kolbie Satterfield, and her quick-thinking photographer, were in the middle of a liveshot for the Charleston CBS affiliate’s 6 o’clock newscast Tuesday evening when Muhiyidin Moye, the leader of Charleston’s Black Lives Matter movement ran through their liveshot, leapt over some police tape in an effort to take down a confederate flag held by a member of the South Carolina secessionist movement, which had gathered downtown.
Moye succeeded. He also got arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Naturally, the clip has gone viral. Satterfield kept her cool as the story continued to develop, explaining what was happening. The station allowed her the time to talk about what was happening, as protestors on both sides were kept apart by police. Satterfield reported for several more minutes before tossing back to the studio. “A lot of raw emotions on both sides,” said anchor Bill Sharpe.
