After Round of Interviews, ‘Fiance’ of Cain Accuser Tells WLS That He’s Actually ‘Ex-Fiance’

When Sharon Bialek came forward on Monday with accusations that Herman Cain had sexually harassed her, the media quickly swarmed a Chicago man who said he was Bialek’s fiancé.

Mark Harwood did a handful of interviews with Chicago reporters following Bialek’s announcement, defending her motives in accusing Cain.  In every story, Harwood was referred to as Bialek’s fiancé.  But it turns out that they actually split up in February.

“We were engaged last year in June but I think there have been some assumptions that Sharon still lives here…with me” Harwood told WLS. “Sharon and her son moved out in February of this year and now live in their own home … so effectively we’re no longer engaged.”  Video inside…

In an interview earlier this week with WGN, Harwood said that Bialek had “no money motive” for coming forward.

“She’s got the same political interests as Herman Cain in terms of the party,” Harwood told WGN, “so it wasn’t like there was opposing political gain there.”

WGN stated that Harwood “hopes for his family’s life to go back to normal soon—despite the national stage Bialek is now on.”
