After Just a Month On the Air, WFTV Expanding 4 p.m. Newscast

Just one month after adding a 4 p.m. newscast to its programming lineup, Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV is expanding the broadcast by 30 minutes. In a statement, the station said the new newscast “provided an immediate ratings boost and laid the ground for big wins with key demographics during the June book.”

“Our viewers made it very clear that what they wanted at 4 p.m. was a full hour of news. We paid attention and made the necessary changes,” WFTV general manager Shawn Bartelt said.

The extended newscast displaces a 4:30 p.m. episode of “Family Fued.” WFTV says the game show will still air on the station at 10:30 a.m. and on sister station WRDQ at 7 and 7:30 p.m.
