After 16 Years, Olga Campos Will Leave Austin’s KVUE

By Merrill Knox

After 16 years with KVUE, Olga Campos announced her departure from the station on the air this morning.

Campos currently anchors the morning and midday newscasts on the Austin ABC affiliate. After her announcement on this morning’s show that tomorrow’s broadcast will be her last, the station’s official Facebook page posted the news of Campos’s departure. “Please join us in wishing her love, laughter, and much happiness as she spends more time with family and friends,” the post reads.

However, The Austin Statesman reports the veteran anchor posted a message on her personal Facebook page with a slightly different sentiment. “I will be sleeping in and hope to have some exciting news about my next career move very, very soon,” Campos wrote.

Campos spent most of her 16 years at KVUE anchoring the 5 p.m. newscast, but was shifted to mornings in 2009  after morning anchor Jason Hill was laid off.
