ABC’s San Francisco Station Leads the Market in Social Media

San Francisco ABC-owned station KGO is the social media leader in the Bay Area market.

With more than one million social media followers, KGO outpaced Spanish language radio station KRZZ (853,459 followers) and Fox-owned KTVU (753,898).

“The social media numbers for the SF market reflect KGO’s early commitment to providing our viewers with the most relevant and engaging content that informs, inspires, and entertains,” said William Burton, president and GM of KGO. “Social media is one piece of our larger multi-platform strategy to connect with our community on whatever platform or device they prefer.”

The stats compiled by Shareablee and reported by NetNewsCheck show KGO had nearly 1.5 million more total actions, which includes likes, shares, retweets and comments, than KTVU.

“It’s an ongoing goal at KGO-TV to serve the Bay Area on every platform possible,” said Burton. “So we’re especially grateful to our community that KGO ranks as the top SF station on all platforms — linear, mobile, digital and social — this past May.”

We earlier reported NBC-owned KNTV was last in local TV with 472,593 followers to KGO’s 1,116,756 and 2,273,838 total actions against KGO’s 7,321,289. This was incorrect. It’s second to last in followers. KRON has 431,976 followers. TVSpy apologizes for the incorrect info.
