ABC News Concludes Major Staff Cutbacks

ABC News has completed a wrenching series of buyouts and layoffs that have reduced its workforce by nearly 400 people, or roughly 25 percent of the network news division.

The news division, a unit of the Walt Disney Company, would not disclose how many staff members had chosen to take buyouts and how many had involuntarily lost their jobs. But a person with knowledge of the cutbacks said that more than 300 employees took buyout packages. On Tuesday, 22 employees were laid off in what was apparently the final round of cuts.
