Zoraida Sambolin, who signed off from CNN in December, is re-joining her former station, WMAQ in Chicago. Sambolin will begin at the NBC-owned station in May.
Sambolin joined CNN in 2011 as the anchor of the early morning newscast. During her time at the network, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy. In announcing her CNN exit, she said “life is beckoning me back to Chicago.”
