Wednesday evening’s unusual edition of NBC Nightly News featured Lester Holt conducting a live interview with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, and then anchoring the rest of the newscast from the gold and glitz of Trump Tower’s lobby–a fixture of Trump’s campaign, and the site of his announcement a year ago.
The unusual move–relocating the network’s flagship broadcast a mere half mile from NBC’s studios–raised plenty of eyebrows:
What could possibly be the justification for this? Is tomorrow night’s show going to be broadcast from Chappaqua? https://t.co/fN6YJE5j7d

Why couldn’t Trump go to 30 Rock? This seems insanely accommodating. https://t.co/ZwfmzUGAom

Holt anchors the entire show from Trump Tower, when Trump could have just gone 6 blocks down 5th Ave. to 30 Rock? pic.twitter.com/lCbpANGQG7

The network tells The New York Times it is willing to make the same we-do-an-interview-and-then-Nightly-at-your-place offer to the Democratic nominee, raising the possibility of a live edition of the NBC broadcast from Clinton’s headquarters in Brooklyn or her home in Chappaqua.
