Yankees Legend Jorge Posada: Scott Pelley Is My Guy

By Brian Flood

Retired New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada has made some news after speaking with CBS News correspondent Mark Strassmann Wednesday on CBS This Morning. Posada was discussing former teammate Alex Rodriguez, who has been busted for steroid use, when he said the slugger doesn’t deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.

Yeah. I don’t think it’s fair. I really don’t. I think the guys that need to be in the Hall of Fame need to be players that played with no controversy.

Posada would later tell WFAN radio in New York that he “was cornered into this answer” and that “was really caught off-guard.” The five-time World Series champion went on to say, “I felt like the guy [Strassmann] kept pushing towards that response, and I should have known better.”

During the interview, Posada did reveal a nightly tradition, telling Strassmann that he “watches a little bit of baseball, but I watch the news. I actually watch Scott Pelley at 6:30, every day.”

When Strassmann asked if he was just saying that because he was on a CBS program, Posada responded, “Scott is my guy, though.”
