As many of you know, today is Tom Nagorski’s last day at World News, which is hard to write no less to believe. To me, he’s been the MVP of this broadcast year after year. And to all of us, a guiding light. From his time as Senior Foreign Producer to his incredible run as Senior Broadcast Producer Tom has given the broadcast a strength, depth and focus like no one else. For many of you he has been a true mentor, a tireless cheerleader, and a calm and clear voice in times of crisis. For me he is all of these things and an unbelievable friend. Thank god he’s only going one floor away. We wish him the best of luck running the news division’s international coverage.
Starting Monday, I’m extremely pleased to announce that Tom Johnson will become our Senior Broadcast Producer. For years Tom has distinguished himself — as one of Peter’s producers, as Senior Domestic Producer, and as an original architect of our digital strategy. His extensive range and depth of experience will allow him to make his own imprimatur on our broadcast.

In the transition I’m grateful to Michael Corn who has agreed to shoulder additional senior responsibilities including feature and futures planning, and investigations — elements of the program vital to our continued success.

Finally, I am thrilled to announce Rick Klein will join us as Senior Washington Editor for World News. Not only will Rick take on the traditional responsibilities of Senior Producer in Washington but he will also appear regularly on “World News Weekend” to give our viewers an insider’s guide to the week ahead in Washington. Rick will continue to be a regular contributor to the political coverage on ABCNews.com. For the last three years Rick has established himself as a leading voice in political reporting as the author of the highly acclaimed “The Note” and as a co-anchor of the “Top Line” webcast with David Chalian. Now Rick’s editorial muscle will be a permanent part of “World News.”

Dennis Dunlavey who split his time with enviable dexterity between the Washington Desk and World News for the past 3 years is returning full time to the desk as Managing Editor where he will continue to champion our coverage. I am indebted to him for his wisdom, consummate professionalism and his enduring friendship.

Join me in congratulating our colleagues on their new assignments.
