First on TVNewser: MSNBC’s Willie Geist is getting his own daily program on the network. The half-hour show will lead in to Morning Joe, on which Geist will continue to contribute.
Insiders tell us Geist’s show, as yet unnamed, will launch June 29, the same day several other new programs are added and the day the network goes HD.
The new show will be an extension of what Geist has been doing for MSNBC for the last four years – a satirical look at the news of the day and, in many cases, the news stories you may not have heard about.
Geist’s show will push First Look off the schedule once again as the network looks for the best possible lead-in for Morning Joe.
Geist joined MSNBC in April 2005 as a senior producer of The Situation with Tucker Carlson. Carlson’s EP, now primetime VP Bill Wolff, put Geist on the air where he began hosting end-of-show segments with a comedic spin on the day’s news.
Geist also hosts the Web show Zeitgeist on msnbc.com.
