Will We See More Eliot Spitzer on Cable News?

Former NY Governor Eliot Spitzer is at the center of a bit of chatter/speculation this week.

Today, WaPo’s Jason Horowitz asks if we’re likely to see Spitzer with a larger role at either CNN or, perhaps, MSNBC in the near future:

According to the source close to Spitzer, the aggressive, lantern-jawed ex-pol has expressed some interest in a radio or television gig, but only if the venue allowed him to be as partisan as he wanted.

“He’d want to be unburdened to say what he thinks,” said the source close to Spitzer…According to one CNN contributor, “Spitzer has been courting MSNBC, and they have been courting him.” (h/t ICN)

As TVNewser noted earlier this week, Spitzer filled-in for MSNBC’s Dylan Ratigan on Monday. It’s something he’d done in the past, though, right now, Spitzer is not a paid contributor with the network.

An MSNBC spokesperson had no comment about the “courting” report.

Yesterday, Yeas & Nays suggested Spitzer could be in chats with CNN regarding the opening in their primetime line-up — though the former governor denied it.

Update: Media Decoder reports that Spitzer has had informal conversations with CNN, but not for an anchor gig.
