Widespread Panic at CNN (It’s a Band)

Georgia-based rock/jam band Widespread Panic is coming to CNN’s Atlanta HQ tomorrow to perform live on “CNN Newsroom.” CNN tells us the band will play in and out of commercial breaks during the 9-11amET hours, which are anchored by Kyra Phillips in Atlanta.

The appearance is intended to promote charities featured on CNN.com that are helping Tennessee flooding victims. “A couple of the band members are from Tennessee and want to raise awareness of the charities that are working with the victims,” a spokesperson tells us. The band also has a new album coming out this month.

Good band. Awkward name for an anchor to have to toss to on a news program.
