Why Gretchen Carlson Is a ‘Media Disruptor’

By A.J. Katz

Gretchen Carlson has been honored by Adweek in its annual Disruptors issue, which profiles women in media and marketing who are leading the charge toward gender diversity.

“Empowering women has always been central to who I am, especially mentoring young women interested in the television business,” Carlson told us. “My door has always been open.”

Carlson has become a prominent advocate for women’s issues since leaving Fox News 11 months ago. A week after her departure, she filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Roger Ailes which forced his departure from the network.

Carlson’s mission continues through her new fund, Gift of Courage, which “inspires women and girls to stand up and speak up,” she says.

Carlson’s new book, Be Fierce: Stop Harassment and Take Your Power Back, hits bookstores this October.
