Who's the Top Twitter Athlete of 2010?

By Noah Davis

The year is nearly over, so year-end lists! Considering we will remember 2010 as the time when our favorite athletes learned about Twitter, it’s only fitting we have a vote to see who did it best.

According to at least one site, the answer may surprise you. Robbie Rogers, a midfielder for Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew, is leading the voting on SportsNetworker’s poll. He has 42 percent of the vote, although only 209 votes have been cast.

Why is Rogers winning?

Rogers, who is active on Twitter, recently relaunced his website and posts frequently. He constantly puts up videos of himself, his family, and his travels, giving fans a view into his life. He’s creating a community both on his site and as a tweeter, as opposed to guys like Tiger Woods who simply use their account to disseminate marketing messages.

(That said, we prefer Steve Nash’s Twitter.)
