“It was packed,” says a source about outgoing CNBC SVP Jonathan Wald’s going away party they other night at New York’s Beacon restaurant.
Wald, who runs the CNBC newsroom and longform units, announced last month he’d be leaving the network. He joined CNBC in 2004 and he’s been with NBC since 1993. His last day is Tuesday.
And there’s no word yet about who will replace Wald. But yesterday, TVNewser has learned, it was announced that Wald’s duties would be split, temporarily, with managing editor Tyler Mathisen handling day-to-day and Ray Borelli handling longform.
Another insider tells us an outside search firm had been looking for candidates and that it’s unlikely an internal candidate will be named. “It’s a pretty small pool of candidates who would fit,” says the source.
