Who Will Replace Larry King At CNN? An Update

By Alex Weprin

TVNewser opened a poll yesterday asking you, our loyal readers, to vote on who should take over for CNN’s outgoing 9 p.m. host Larry King.

As a public service, we thought we would provide you with some updates, to help guide your decision.

Earlier this week the New York Post dismissed CBS “Evening News” anchor Katie Couric as a candidate, saying she told CNN that she “was not interested” in the job.

But a source close to the situation tells TVNewser that the Post report is not entirely accurate. Couric has not in fact had any negotiations with CNN, and is said to remain open to various options for when she decides to consider her future plans.

Elsewhere, Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that HLN’s 9 p.m. host Joy Behar “is in talks” to take King’s spot.

And B&C’s Marisa Guthrie gets a frank reply from CNN U.S. President Jon Klein about the network’s rumored discussions with Piers Morgan, telling her “We never have negotiated with Piers.”

As for King’s preferred replacement Ryan Seacrest, well, as TVNewser reported yesterday, don’t bet on it.

Still, the choice is yours, go vote!
