On Scott Pelley’s Desk, a Tribute to the Past

By Merrill Knox

Scott Pelley is used to being the interviewer, but the CBS affiliate in Tulsa recently turned the tables on the “Evening News” anchor, sitting down with him for a piece on his Oklahoma roots.

Pelley, who says he is the proud representative of the Heartland in the CBS newsroom, called his current job “too wild a dream for me to even imagine.” He also revealed that he keeps the photographs of the 15 CBS News correspondents who have been killed in the line of duty on his desk, out of view of the camera.

“I keep them on the set because I don’t ever want to forget them, and I don’t want to forget what people are doing all around the world for the ‘CBS Evening News’ every single day,” Pelley said. Watch:
