What’s Behind Harwood’s Move?

By Chris Ariens

Politico‘s Michael Calderone follows up on FishbowlDC‘s story about CNBC’s John Harwood leaving The Wall Street Journal for The New York Times.

Speaking to the Politico this morning, Harwood said that he was “almost uniquely affected” by News Corp.’s soon-to-be-completed deal for Dow Jones, since in addition to covering politics for the paper, he remains CNBC’s chief Washington correspondent.

Working primarily for CNBC and secondarily for The Wall Street Journal simply wouldn’t work. “It’s not about what Murdoch would do to The Wall Street Journal,” Harwood tells Politico. “If TV were not a part of my life, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
