What Makes A Cable News Leader? A Good Leader, Says Greta

By Chris Ariens

Fox News Channel’s Greta Van Susteren was checking out TVNewser this afternoon when she came across our story on Sean Hannity’s profile in the NYT today. Our headline pulled a quote from Hannity:

Van Susteren uses our story to make a point. It’s not about sucking up, it’s about leadership and loyalty in the workplace:

So why do I post this? As a hint or tip to other bosses in other networks and other industry that old fashion (sic) loyalty to the employees works and at a time when our economy is sagging, we really need everyone to work hard and keep businesses successful. When you show no loyalty to your employees, the place implodes…it breeds lots of dissension and thus less focus on doing one’s job well. When you show loyalty to your employees as [FNC CEO] Roger [Ailes] does to us, the employees go the extra mile and that is important in these trouble (sic) economic times.

We all like Roger and appreciate what he has done for us at Fox. Do you say that about YOUR boss?

Van Susteren says she didn’t write the post to kiss up to her boss. “I don’t have to blog this about Roger. Like Sean, I don’t need to schmooze Roger either,” she writes, adding, “I also don’t have the personality to schmooze.”
