What Cable News Channels Would You Give Up For a Cheaper Cable Bill?

By Alex Weprin

Time Warner Cable is testing out a new, cheaper cable plan that will cost between $29.99-$49.99 per month, substantially less than most cable packages.

In order to keep the price low, however, a number of popular networks had to be cut. For example, ESPN, which costs over $4 per subscriber per month according to SNL Kagan, has been dropped, though ESPNews is included.

On the cable news front, the package includes CNN ($0.51 per month), but not the more expensive Fox News ($0.58 per month) or less expensive MSNBC ($0.16 per month). It includes Bloomberg ($0.06 per month), but not the more expensive CNBC ($0.29 per month) or Fox Business Network ($0.11 per month).

Other popular networks not included are TNT and Comedy Central.
