Wendell Goler, a Fox News original, is leaving the network.
Goler, who has been a DC bureau correspondent since 2011, joined FNC as a foreign affairs correspondent in 1996.
TVNewser obtained a note Goler sent to the New York and Washington bureaus in which he writes, “The time has come, to taste the joys of retirement. My thanks to [Fox News Chairman] Roger [Ailes] for giving me the opportunity to join this endeavor at the start. Thanks to Brit [Hume] for teaching me the power of words.”
Before joining FNC, Goler was a White House correspondent for the AP. He’s also been a reporter at WJLA and WRC in Washington.
“Over my 28 years at the White House I’ve covered 5 presidents, talked with 7 and helped the nation say goodbye to 2 of them,” Goler writes. “It’s been a great ride. I believe I enjoyed a golden age of broadcasting during that time, but I’m now a dinosaur and I go to join other dinosaurs.”
Goler’s last day is today. He’s off to the Caribbean.
