Vivian Brown Makes Emotional Exit From Weather Channel

By Mark Joyella

“Thirty years ago, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime,” Vivian Brown said on air this afternoon, announcing her sudden departure from the Weather Channel, where she has worked for 30 years.

“It is with great disappointment that I have to announce that this is my last TV broadcast on the Weather Channel. I don’t know exactly where I’m going next,” she said. “I am saying goodbye, for now.”

Calling the Weather Channel’s vision one “of purpose, goodwill, and service,” Brown said over three decades, viewers gave her “a sense of purpose for my own life. And I thank you for that.”

As Brown appeared to become tearful at the end of her announcement, she and her co-anchor were quickly replaced on screen by “weather on the 8s.”

The Weather Channel told TVNewser “Vivian Brown is indeed leaving The Weather Channel. We are grateful for her many contributions during almost 30 years with the network. She is a part of the Weather family, and we wish her all the best.”
