Van Susteren, Maddow Ripe for SNL Parody?

The NYTimes’ Ned Martel profiles three of the new faces on Saturday Night Live — all women, by the way — two of whom are gearing up for cable news personality parodies.

Michaela Watkins (left), who has already played Arianna Huffington, may be getting ready to do a send up of an MSNBC prime time star:

Ms. Watkins suggested that her next target could be Rachel Maddow but maybe first a spin as Cloris Leachman, the immodest doyenne of “Dancing With the Stars.” “To do Cloris,” Ms. Watkins said, thinking out loud, “I would have no underpants.”

Another newcomer, and the youngest member of the current cast, 21-year-old Abby Elliot is setting her sights on an FNC anchor:

She has a range that takes her beyond young and cute, though, and she’s thinking hard about how to mimic Greta Van Susteren’s cross-examining skills and mastering a slump-shouldered Michael Cera with simply a hoodie, gym shorts and tube socks. “That’s all I need,” she said.
