After a quick trip to Afghanistan last weekend, Bill O’Reilly told an AP reporter he’s disappointed with the USO’s efforts in the country. “As far as I know, the only famous people in the past year were Toby Keith and me,” said O’Reilly during a stopover in Istanbul.
Well now, the USO has fired off a letter to the FNC host asking him “to set the record straight.” “For 2007,” the letter states, “we expect to take approximately 19 celebrities to Afghanistan.”
The USO’s VP of communications Mark Phillips told the group ThinkProgress that they are in talks with O’Reilly’s producers to come on the show and discuss the organization’s work.
