“Both María and Gabriela have proven to be great assets to our team and we are thrilled to expand their responsibilities, giving them new opportunities to shine,” said Daniel Coronell, president of News for UCI. “Both of them are experienced leaders and we are certain that they will contribute significantly to the success of Univision News in their new roles.”

In her new role, Martínez-Guzmán will supervise and assign daily stories for all newscasts; plan and coordinate interviews, series and special news coverage; and manage correspondents and assignment editors. She most recently served as managing editor of Network News and before that, national and international assignment editor, Univision News, and was instrumental in helping launch the popular Sunday morning public affairs program Al Punto.

In her new role, Tristán will oversee daily production and broadcast of all newscasts; plan and organize special coverage of events and breaking news; and manage Univision News anchors, producers, and writers. She joined the Univision News family as an intern in 1993 and has since held several production positions at the network, including Univision’s morning show Despierta América and subsequently for Network News. After moving up to general producer for Al Punto, Tristán was promoted to executive producer in 2012. Her most recent title was executive producer, Univision Network News.

Martínez-Guzmán and Tristán will both report to Patsy Loris, senior vice president and senior news director for Univision Communications.
