Univision Files to Go Public

By Mark Joyella

Perhaps Donald Trump would like to buy up Univision? He could soon get his chance. The network has filed papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday morning, proposing an initial public offering.

Earlier this year, Reuters reported the IPO–expected to be one of the media industry’s biggest in years–could raise more than $1 billion, and value the company at as much as $20 billion, including debt.

The network, the largest Spanish language broadcaster in the US, is currently engaged in a dispute with Trump over his comments on Mexican immigrants. Univision dropped plans to carry Trump’s upcoming Miss USA pageant, and Trump responded by filing a $500 million lawsuit against the company.
