U.S. Open, CBS Reach Agreement Through 2014

The U.S. Tennis Association and CBS have reached an agreement in principle that will keep the U.S. Open on the network through 2014.

As part of the deal, the U.S. Open will continue to air the women’s singles finals on Saturday night and the men’s singles final on Sunday afternoon.

“We have a really good lineup of events that are spread throughout the calendar and the U.S. Open fits perfectly into our schedule,” said Sean McManus, the president of CBS News and Sports. “Most of it takes place before the NFL season starts and after our golf season ends.”

Richard Sandomir of The New York Times was the first to report the story this afternoon.

CBS has aired the U.S. Open since 1968 and their current deal with the USTA ends after the 2011 tournament.
