Tyler Mathisen Off The Anchor Desk: Named “Managing Editor of CNBC Biz News”

By Brian

CNBC’s Tyler Mathisen is swapping his on-air role for an off-air assignment: He has been appointed managing editor of CNBC Business News by SVP David Friend and VP Glen Rochkind, effective August 1.

“Tyler knows CNBC inside and out and completely understands what our unique audience of business leaders and executives demand from us,” Friend says. “He is the right person to make sure that we continue to break news, land exclusive interviews and take our viewers right to where the action is.”

Quoting the press release: “In his new position, Mathisen will be charged with directing the network’s daily content and coverage with oversight of the assignment desk, including all reporters, bureaus and field producers. He will also be a key partner with Friend and Rochkind in developing the long-term strategy, voice and direction of the network’s Business Day coverage.

> Mathisen’s last day as anchor of Closing Bell will be on Friday, July 29, but he’ll still appear on-air occasionally.

> CNBC president Mark Hoffman called the position an “important leadership role” and a “significant step up for Tyler.”
