Tyler Brûlé on Bloomberg TV: ‘I hope it will be a return to more elegant television’

Old-media mini mogul and magazine publisher of Monocle Tyler Brûlé is starting a weekly hour-long show, “Monocle on Bloomberg” on the Bloomberg network, which airs December 18 at 12pm and 5pm.  “I hope it will be a return to more elegant television,” Brûlé told NY Magazine.

The Canadian-born journalist told the magazine that he’s an old-fashioned media man; however, he says “I don’t want to sound like a Luddite about it.”

Brûlé then elaborated on his thoughts of print media:

“The whole print-media thing is sort of self-fulfilling. It’s part of our mantra: If you put a magazine on shitty paper with shitty repro and bad journalism, why should people want to buy it? If you deliver something that has an improved quality of paper and is collectible, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that people want to pick it up, hold on to it, pay a premium on it.”

The magazine publisher’s show will include various Monocle editors as hosts.
