TVNewser Time Machine: What TV News Websites Looked Like back In The 90’s

Gizmodo put together a list of “23 Ancient Websites That Are Still Alive.” Two of those sites belong to CNN, in the form of a sub-site on the OJ Simpson Trial and the 1996 “Year in Review.” We decided to take a trip to the Internet Archive, and see what TV News websites looked like back in the mid-90’s. Spoiler alert: they look ridiculous in hindsight, but appropriate for the days of dial-up.

Fox News Channel’s website in 1996 was sparse, and light on content, but check out the familiar face on the right:

CNN’s 1996 Year In Review:

ABC News had a fairly advanced site in 1997, it even had a “non Java’ version, for those users who hadn’t upgraded top the latest tech.

MSNBC also had a fairly fleshed out site in 1996 (not surprising given the Microsoft connection):
