TV News Gears Up For Day 100 of the Trump Administration

President Trump’s 100th day in office is this coming Saturday, and a number of the national TV news outlets will be providing special coverage leading up to, on, and even after the landmark date. Here’s how some of the networks are covering the festivities.

ABC News

  • Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, and Nightline are presenting special coverage of Trump’s first 100 days in office this week through Saturday.
  • ABC News anchors and correspondents have been reporting from across the U.S. and overseas covering issues from healthcare and immigration to jobs and foreign policy and speaking with Americans on their expectations for and reactions to Pres. Trump’s performance.
  • George Stephanopoulos is leading GMA’s coverage of the first 100 days this week.  The program is featuring the GMA Promise Tracker, “an examination on how the president has followed though so far on his biggest platforms with reports from the border, heartland and overseas on all the biggest issues facing the nation.”
  • GMA is also reporting on how the Office is changing the Trump family and the unprecedented way this modern-day Commander-in-Chief communicates with his constituents, and interview people across America about the mood of this divided country.
  • Muir is traveling across the country this week for World News to counties that were nearly evenly split between Trump and Clinton supporters. For five years Muir has been reporting for the Made in America series and reports from some of these factory towns that decided the election. He’s interviewing Americans from a spectrum of political views on their thoughts on the beginning of President Trump’s term.
  • Nightline’s Dan Harris is reporting from a split county in a swing state and takes a look back at the Affordable Care Act in Kentucky to see how residents are feeling now. Producers who covered the 2016 campaign will revisit key stops on the trail during the final 30 days before the election, including reconnecting with a Texas Evangelical pastor who was on the fence leading up to the election.
  • Chief Washington and chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl, chief global affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz, senior White House correspondent Cecilia Vega, Congressional correspondent Mary Bruce and special correspondent Matthew Dowd are covering the first 100 days from Washington.
  • WNT weekend anchor and chief national correspondent Tom Llamas and correspondent David Wright report from across the country, and chief foreign correspondent Terry Moran are reporting abroad on international policy and relationships with foreign countries. Chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross reports on the investigations into Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election, potential conflicts of interest with the Trump family businesses and the president’s wiretapping claims.

Ahead of President Trump’s 100th day in office, David Westin will be anchoring Bloomberg Daybreak Americas (7-10 a.m. ET) from Bloomberg’s Washington Bureau on Thursday and Friday.

Westin will interview the following:

  • Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY), Budget Committee (Thursday)
  • Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL), Chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcomittee on tax policy (Thursday)
  • Alan Greenspan, Former Federal Reserve Chairman (Friday)

  • Roundtable discussion with Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle an Former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (Friday)

CBS News

  • CBS News chief Washington correspondent and Face the Nation anchor John Dickerson will interview President Trump on Saturday April 29, the 100th day of his presidency. Dickerson will then travel with POTUS to a rally in Harrisburg, PA. Dickerson’s interview with the president is a broadcast news exclusive.
  • Dickerson’s interview in the White House will air the following morning on the network’s Sunday public affairs program Face the Nation.
  • CBS This Morning will broadcast live from the White House the following Monday, May 1. Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O’Donnell will speak with top administration officials about the first 100 days, and what to expect going forward.

CNBC

  • CNBC has been covering Trump’s 100 days from all angles throughout the week.  Both on-air and online, CNBC is looking at what President Trump has accomplished is his first 100 days and how it has affected everything from small business and deregulation to jobs, taxes, the markets and international relations.
  • CNBC’s Squawk Box (6 -9 a.m. ET) will broadcast from Washington, DC on Thursday and has a First On interview with US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross at 7 a.m. ET.  Coverage will continue over the weekend on CNBC Digital (http://www.cnbc.com/100-days-of-trump/).

CNN

  • Special prime time edition of The Lead with Jake Tapper all week on President Trump’s first 100 days.
  • CNN correspondents Kyung Lah, Miguel Marquez and Martin Savidge report a special series from swing, red and blue states throughout the week on how Americans view the president’s first 100 days.
  • New Day Saturday, CNN Newsroom and a special weekend edition of Wolf and The Situation Room will all be live from Washington, D.C. on Saturday.
  • Poppy Harlow and John Berman will anchor live special programming on President Donald Trump’s First 100 Days, including coverage of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Trump’s rally and more (7 to 11 p.m. ET on Saturday).
  • Senior White House correspondent Jeff Zeleny reports live from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for President Trump’s rally.
  • CNN Correspondents Jim Acosta, Athena Jones and Joe Johns will be reporting throughout the day from the White House.

Fox News

  • Martha MacCallum will interview President Trump at the White House on Friday night, the eve of his 100th day as POTUS.
  • This week, MacCallum conducted her final town hall in Canton, Ohio where she asked voters in the Rust Belt, which predominately voted for President Trump in the 2016 election, whether they were happy with what the president has accomplished as the first 100 days come to an end. This follows a series of town halls in Jacksonville, Florida and Southern Pines, North Carolina and this Friday, April 28th, MacCallum will provide viewers with a look back of the president’s first months in office.
  • Chief political anchor Bret Baier has been offering a five-day series on Special Report entitled, President Trump: The First 100 to break down different elements of his administration including his agenda, team, ongoing challenges, controversies and how he moves forward.
  • Additionally, Neil Cavuto will offer a two-hour live Cost of Freedom this Saturday at 10 a.m. entitled, President Trump Day 100 to discuss the latest on the new healthcare bill, the push for tax cuts and a potential battle over funding the government.

MSNBC

  • All this week MSNBC Live has broadcast from the roof of the Chamber of Commerce with live coverage continuing on Saturday.
  • Richard Engel reports on how the rest of the world has responded to President Trump’s first 100 days in office.
  • Chris Jansing spoke with Democratic activists and power players who oppose Pres. Trump in California and New York City to discuss his first 100 days in office and the future of the Trump resistance movement. Friday features Jansing’s panel of Democratic and Republican voters in North Carolina who discuss what progress has been made to unify the county and what it will take for a still divided country to come together.
  • Jacob Soboroff travelled to Fort Smith, Arkansas where he spoke with the Mayor and an Interstate coalition member about how Trump’s promise of a one trillion dollar infrastructure bill could transform the city.
  • In interviews with Nicolle Wallace and Andy Card, Katy Tur took a look back at the first 100 days of press briefings and the relationship between the Trump administration and the press. On Friday, Tur rounds up 10 big moments of President Trump’s first 100 days in office.
  • Ari Melber analyzed every executive order and bill Pres. Trump has executed in the first 100 days, documenting which change substantive policy and which are only symbolic.
  • In Indianapolis, Rehema Ellis visited a job re-training program and spoke with students about what they make of Trump’s first 100 days relative to his promise to be the “greatest jobs president ever.” She also traveled to Ohio for a report on the hard choices families in rural communities are facing over health care as Congress debates a new GOP plan.
  • Jacob Rascon interviewed Trump voters in a Democratic turned Republican county in Michigan and Trump voters in Arizona.
  • For her report on women inspired by the Women’s March to run for office, Mariana Atencio profiles a mom running for Congress and Emerge Virginia – a training program aimed at helping other women do the same.
  • Hans Nichols looked at 100 days of Trump as Commander-in-chief examining the current threats and comparing President Trump’s strategy to President Obama’s.
  • On Saturday, MSNBC’s live coverage of President Trump’s first 100 days in office and the White House Correspondents’ dinner begins with Chris Jansing anchoring from Washington D.C. with Jacob Soboroff reporting live from the red carpet at the Hilton. Programming continues with Ari Melber who will provide comprehensive coverage of President Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania, climate marches across the country, as well as the latest from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

NBC News

  • Lester Holt will anchor NBC Nightly News live from Washington, D.C. on Friday, April 28. The broadcast will feature a report from White House correspondent Kristen Welker examining President Trump’s first 100 days.
  • Saturday Today will host a political panel, while Sunday Today features a piece from Harry Smith, who traveled to a county in Montana that voted 50/50 for Trump/Clinton for their reaction to Trump’s first 100 days.
  • Sunday’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd will include a look at the administration’s first 100 days by the numbers. The broadcast will also feature an interview with VP Mike Pence and will address the administration’s first 100 days by the numbers.

Yahoo News

  • Yahoo global news anchor Katie Couric hosted a look at President Trump’s first 100 days in office earlier this morning, with help from Yahoo News and finance anchor Bianna Golodryga, Yahoo national political columnist Matt Bai, Yahoo chief investigative correspondent Michael Isikoff, Yahoo national correspondent Holly Bailey, Yahoo finance columnist Rick Newman, and Yahoo chief Washington correspondent Olivier Knox. Kellyanne Conway joined the program live from Washington, D.C
  • Each day this week, Yahoo News Video has special 100 Days themed video coverage including the Now I Get It explainer series with Michael Isikoff, Donald Trump’s Russian Riddle, Donald Trump’s Campaign Promises, with Bianna Golodryga and a look at President Trump’s First 100 days as Told Through His Tweets, 100 Days: The Best of Sean Spicer, and 100 Days: Trump’s Moments with Foreign Leaders, 100 Days: By The Numbers.
  • There’s also extensive reporting from the Yahoo News and politics team this week, including a follow-up to the outlet’s multi-media feature series from one-year ago, Who’s really voting for Trump: Portraits beyond the polls, in which Yahoo News interviewed a half-dozen Trump supporters from around the country to get at the secret of his appeal. As part of Yahoo’s 100 days reporting, the team went back and interviewed five of these six voters again, to find out if his core supporters still had faith in Trump’s young administration: The Ever-Trumpers: Revisiting His backers From 2016, We Find They Still Like Him.
