Former MSNBC anchor, CNN contributor and current Fox News contributor and Daily Caller founder Tucker Carlson is profiled by Brian Stelter in the New York Times.
The recent 2007 Obama video that was played on “Hannity” and hyped on “The Drudge Report” is a big focus of the story, though the infamous 2004 “Crossfire” incident came up once again. If you don’t recall it, “The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart was a guest on the CNN show “Crossfire,” and proceeded to ridicule the hosts (including Carlson) for “Hurting America.” The show was canceled not long after:
“I still to this day don’t understand what his point was,” Mr. Carlson said. “If his point was, I’m abrasive, I think that’s an entirely fair point. But I’ve never been partisan, ever.” He added, “I believe in ideas, not candidates.” To that end, he said his release of the Obama video was not coordinated in any way with Mitt Romney’s campaign. “I can’t get the Romney campaign to call me back for an interview,” he said, adding, “Please quote me. I can’t.”
