Trump Tells Fox News Firing Prompted by Need for ‘Different Kind of Campaign’

In an interview tonight on Fox News Channel, Donald Trump tells Bill O’Reilly the firing of Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, was the result of a need to take the campaign into a new direction.

“I think Corey’s terrific,” Trump said in the interview airing on The O’Reilly Factor at 8 p.m. ET. “I watched him before. He was terrific toward me. Said I was a talented person. And he’s a talented person. He’s a good guy. He’s a friend of mine. But I think it’s time now for a different kind of a campaign.”

Trump says the “small, beautiful, well unified campaign” that led Trump to victory in the Republican primaries will need to change in the general election against Hillary Clinton. “But we’re going to go a little bit of a different route from this point forward. A little different style.”
