ABC’s Tom Llamas will be honored by his alma mater Loyola University in New Orleans today. The 2001 graduate will become a member of the School of Mass Communications’ Den of Distinction – the school’s Hall of Fame.

Llamas joined ABC News last year from New York’s WNBC. He was named anchor of World News Tonight Sunday in March.

Llamas’ wife, Jennifer Llamas, is also a Loyola graduate. Both have degrees from the School of Mass Communication. Jennifer is the ep of MSNBC’s News Nation with Tamron Hall.

“I am thrilled to be honored by Loyola,” Llamas tells TVNewser. “The University is so close to my heart not only for fostering my passion for journalism but it’s also where I met my wife. The school, like the city of New Orleans, is family so this is a special day for me.”
