Tom Brokaw Recalls His First Political Conventions

The legendary NBC News journalist Tom Brokaw is serving as a correspondent for Today during the program’s coverage of the 2016 presidential nominating conventions. Last week’s RNC was the 23rd national convention that Brokaw has covered, and the DNC, which gets underway tomorrow, will be his 24th.

The Today show aired a piece last week in which Brokaw looks back at the first political conventions he covered in 1968. He is shown touring some of the rougher parts of Cleveland and recalling how the ’68 conventions mirrored the racial and cultural turmoil wreaking havoc on the nation in the midst of the Vietnam War. Check out the piece below:
