Today Wins Morning Show Gold, but Posts Double-Digit Losses Compared to Week 1 of Sochi 2014

NBC’s Today was the No. 1 morning show across the board for the second consecutive week, and also got a solid ratings bump from NBC’s Olympics coverage.

The program originated from the Gangneung Coastal Cluster in Pyeongchang last week, and continues to do so this week.

Compared to the same week in 2017, Today was also +7 percent in total viewers, and +3 percent among adults 25-54.

But compared to week one of the 2014 Sochi Games, Today was down double digits, including a -31 percent among adults 25-54.

Good Morning America and CBS This Morning were down year-over-year, due in part to the Olympics.

GMA was also down double digits compared to the first week of Sochi, both in total viewers (-30 percent) and among adults 25-54 (-41 percent). CBS This Morning was actually up +3 percent in total viewers compared to that same week, but -18 percent among adults 25-54.

The averages for the week of Feb. 12, 2018:

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 4.160M / NBC: 4.618M / CBS: 3.402M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.391M / NBC: 1.720M / CBS: 934k
