‘Today’ Ticker: Top Job, Iced Out, Snowed In

  • SportsBusinessDaily reports ESPN will not let VP Programming & Production Jamie Horowitz out of his contract. He had been in talks to fill the open “Today” show SVP job.

  • Al Roker took on Georgia officials for being ill-prepared for Tuesday’s storm. “They took a gamble. They didn’t want to pre-treat the roads. I don’t think they wanted to spend the money,” said Roker. “This was poor planning on the mayor’s part and on the governor’s part.”

  • Matt Lauer begins anchoring from Sochi on Monday. Meredith Vieira and Willie Geist will also be reporting for the show next week ahead of the games. Savannah Guthrie, Natalie Morales and Al Roker join the Sochi team Monday, Feb. 10.
