Today Show Director Signs Off

By Brian Flood

Rob George is leaving his position as director of the Today show to spend more time with his family. George is moving to California to be with his daughter, who is about to start high school. His final day directing the NBC morning show was Friday, pending future “fill-in” gigs.

TVNewser has obtained an email that George sent to the Today staff:

To my East Coast Family,

Today is my last day with the TODAY Show. Its been exhilarating directing the biggest, baddest live show in the country, and all the while working with some of the most talented people in the industry.  TODAY is on the rise back to its rightful place at #1, due largely to the hard work all of you put in daily. As many of you know, my daughter Erika lives in LA and is about to start High School.  It is important that I get back to her full time.  I want to thank Don for helping to make this move possible.  He and I have discussed my coming back to fill-in so with a little luck I will be back to torment you all soon.

Thanks for all of your friendship and support.

Rob
