‘Today’ Has Two ‘Exclusives,’ Provided You Don’t Watch CBS

By Alex Weprin

NBC’s “Today” had two “exclusive interviews” this morning, although both people had already been interviewed on CBS News.

Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner was interviewed by Savannah Guthrie this morning, touted as a “Today” exclusive. The only problem is that he gave an interview to “CBS This Morning” last Friday. TVNewser hears that he was also supposed to appear on “Good Morning America” this morning, but it was scrubbed after his CBS appearance.

Then there was the “exclusive” interview with ex-Goldman Sachs banker Greg Smith, who wrote a book detailing his career at the firm, and the alleged mismanagement he witnessed there. Smith wasn’t on any other morning show, but he was the focus of a big “60 Minutes” interview last night. Clips from the interview aired on “CBS This Morning” with guest Anderson Cooper who conducted the Smith’s “60 Minutes” interview.
