The Weather Channel’s Search for Therapy Dog

The Weather Channel and the American Humane Society are teaming up for a nationwide search to find the perfect weather-therapy dog.

Viewers and animal shelters across the country are being enlisted in the search starting Monday, December 30. The network is looking for a friendly, camera-comfortable rescue dog who’s at least 1-year-old. Past experiences with natural disasters is a plus.

“The Weather Channel supports the mission of American Humane Association, which helps in the search and day-to-day care for our four-legged friends after the devastation of many severe weather events,” said The Weather Channel network president David Clark. “We often feature news of AHA’s important work on our television, web and mobile properties, and this partnership formalizes our relationship to better serve communities together.”

The eventual winner will help comfort areas damaged following natural disasters. The male or female pup will visit schools, hospitals, shelters, and other places negatively impacted by extreme weather.
