Fox News had the top 14 programs in total viewers and the top four programs in the key A25-54 demographic in January 2014. As usual, “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one program in cable news in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2,720,000 total viewers and 409,000 demo viewers. “The Five” came in second in both ratings measurements, averaging 2,223,000 and 383,000 viewers, respectively. “The Kelly File,” “Special Report with Bret Baier” and “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” round out the top five in total viewers for the month.
MSNBC’s highest-rated show was “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which had an extremely strong month and cracked the top five in the A25-54 demographic. Maddow’s program averaged 1,040,000 total viewers and 305,000 demo viewers, placing 15th and fifth, respectively.
CNBC broke into the top ten among A25-54 viewers with “Shark Tank,” which led the network in both total viewers and the demo for the month. Reruns of the ABC program averaged 541,000 total viewers and 276,000 A25-54 viewers, placing 21st overall among total viewers and sixth overall in the demo.
“Anderson Cooper 360” was the top CNN program in total viewers and the demo, placing 24th and 27th, respectively. The show averaged 484,000 total viewers and 137,000 A25-54 viewers for the year.
“Forensic Files” led HLN in total viewers and the demo, placing 27th and 23rd, respectively. The show averaged 414,000 total viewers and 173,000 demo viewers.
The top-rated show on FBN was the network’s coverage of the Barrett Jackson Auto Auction, which drew 206,000 total viewers and 58,000 A25-54 viewers.
