The Top Cable News Shows in 2014 Were…

Fox News had the Top 14 programs in total viewers Top 9 programs in the key A25-54 demographic in 2014. As usual, “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one program in cable news in both total and demo viewers, averaging 2,6671,000 total viewers and 426,000 demo viewers. “The Kelly File” finished second in both categories, averaging 2,204,000 and 374,000, respectively.

“The Five,” “Special Report,” and “On the Record” round out the Top 5 in total viewers.  The Top 5 for the demo looks similar, with “Hannity” replacing “On the Record” as the only change.

CNBC’s “Shark Tank” cracks the Top 10 in the demo, averaging 223,000 viewers, respectively. MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” is the best non-FNC program in total viewers, coming in 15th overall.

“CNN Tonight” is CNN’s top show in the demo at No. 11, with “Anderson Cooper 360” finishing just behind at No. 12. “Sixties” finishes the year as CNN’s top program in total viewers, averaging 650,000 and coming in at No. 17 overall.

“Maddow” is MSNBC’s top program in both categories, averaging 843,000 and 196,000 viewers, respectively. “Forensic Files” finishes 2014 as HLN’s top program in the demo, while “Nancy Grace” finishes slightly ahead in total viewers. Grace finished 42nd among all cable news programs in total viewers, with “Forensic Files” finishing 47th.
