The Top Cable News Programs In July 2012 Were…

The top 13 cable news programs in total viewers were on Fox News in July, with the channel also nabbing the top nine slots in the key adults 25-54 demo.

As usual, “The O’Reilly Factor” was the number one show on the channel and on cable news overall, averaging 2.6 million total viewers and 510,000 demo viewers.

There was a changing of the guard at sort at MSNBC, as “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” was the top program on that network in both total and demo viewers, and placed 14th in total viewers and 10th in the demo. Typically Rachel Maddow has held that spot, although Maddow’s vacation last month may have been a factor in the switch. O’Donnell averaged 967,000 total viewers and 282,000 demo viewers.

“Piers Morgan Tonight” was CNN’s number one program in total viewers, averaging 554,000 people at 9 PM. The 10 PM replay of “AC360” led the network in the demo with 181,000.

“Nancy Grace” led HLN in total viewers with 312,000 though “Morning Express” led the way in the demo with 123,000.

CNBC’s top original was “Squawk on the Street,” while FBN’s highest-rated program was “Stossel.”
