One of the surprise movies of the last year is Silver Linings Playbook, which stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. We won’t spoil the surprise, but suffice it to say mental illness plays a very prominent and important role in the film.
With that serious undertone, and the surprise Oscar nominations earlier this month — Cooper, Lawrence and director David O. Russell have been making the rounds to talk about the film and mental illness.

Cooper appeared on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” last night, where they talked about Matthews’ home state, the film, and, yes, politics. Meanwhile, over on CNN, Russell was doing an interview on “Piers Morgan Tonight,” when Lawrence popped in late. It was good TV. Watch both after the jump…
