The Secret of Donald Trump’s Success? ‘He Gets How Television Works’

On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, the New Hampshire-based panel discussed the campaign of Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, who staged an eve-of-the-primary rally for 5,000 people Monday evening, noting that Trump has a gift for producing compelling television–which has played perfectly to audiences in person and on cable TV.

“We walked through (the venue) before it filled up, and Mika said ‘This guy is a TV producer,'” said co-host Joe Scarborough.

“There’s nobody on his staff that’s a TV producer, there’s no guy that’s also trying to sell scripts out in L.A. that’s also working on the campaign as a frustrated screenwriter. It’s all Donald Trump,” Scarborough continued.

“He understands the medium as a performer, and…as a producer,” said Mark Halperin. “We interviewed him… he started helping us produce the shoot. He gets how television works.”
