The Press Meets Betsy Fischer

By Chris Ariens

Let this be a lesson to you kids: being organized can get you all the way to the TV top. Meet the Press EP Betsy Fisher is featured in her hometown newspaper, The Times-Picayune. One of her High School teachers remembers her as, “the most organized human being I have ever met in my entire life.”

Fisher, who started as an intern on MTP, talks about her Louisiana roots (she missed her 20th class reunion last month because MTP went to London to interview Barack Obama); and the loss of her boss Tim Russert. “I feel very, very lucky to have spent so many years with him, learning from him, being friends with him. That’s what gives me a lot of comfort,” Fischer says.

“I’m sure I will always, whenever I have a major decision to make, think in my head, ‘What would Tim say? What would Tim do?’ That will be with me, I know, forever.”
