‘The Next List’ With Sanjay Gupta To Premiere Sunday

“The Next List,” a newly-developed CNN program, now has an official debut date and host.

CNN chief medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta will anchor the weekly-half hour program, which will air on Sundays at 2 pmET/PT beginning this week. The show will profile “exceptional individuals, who as agents of change are leading innovation, setting trends and making strides within various industries around the world,” according to a CNN statement.

The executive producer of “The Next List” will be CNN’s Jim McGinness, who is a former EP for “American Morning” and “Lou Dobbs Tonight.”

Weekend Program to Spotlight Top Innovators Will Air Sundays at 2:00pm ET & PT on CNN/U.S.

CNN will launch a new weekly program The Next List with anchor and chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Sundays at 2:00-2:30p ET & PT beginning November 13.  The program will feature profiles of exceptional individuals, who as agents of change are leading innovation, setting trends and making strides within various industries around the world. Each week, leading up to Sunday, vignettes from the program will air on CNN/U.S.

Dr. Gupta will introduce viewers to innovators from around the world who are on the cutting edge of change in their fields. We will hear from them, in their own words, about the challenges they faced and the innovative approaches they’ve developed to overcome obstacles. From science and education to sports and engineering, CNN will tell these thoughtful stories of unique game-changers across CNN platforms.  The Next List will feature commentary on CNN.com/TheNextList from those profiled on the show, as well as the very latest on innovation and innovators from around the world.

Gupta, a practicing neurosurgeon, plays an integral role in CNN’s reporting on health and medical news for American Morning, Anderson Cooper 360°, CNN documentaries, and anchors the weekend medical affairs program Sanjay Gupta, MD. Gupta also contributes to CNN.com and CNNHealth.com. His medical training and public health policy experience distinguish his reporting on a range of medical and scientific topics including brain injury, disaster recovery, health care reform, fitness, military medicine, HIV/AIDS, and other areas.

Award winning producer CNN’s Jim McGinnis will executive produce of The Next List. Most recently he was the executive producer of American Morning and was the executive producer of Lou Dobbs Tonight from July 2004 until November 2009. Prior to that, he was a supervising producer with the show for three years. McGinnis began his career at CNN in January 1989.
