The First Lady to Guest Host on First Place Morning Show

For the first time ever, a sitting First Lady of the United States will guest host the Today show.

Laura Bush will co-host the 9am hour of the show next Tuesday, April 22, and she will be joined by her daughter, Jenna Bush during the program.

Bush will be involved in all aspects of the show, from interviewing guests to participating in segments. She will also give a special look at her new children’s book, “Read All About It!” An interview with Ann Curry from the Crawford ranch will also air.

For the first time in history, the First Lady of the United States will guest host America’s favorite morning program. Laura Bush will join America’s first family for the 9 a.m. hour of “Today,” Tuesday April 22. Mrs. Bush will also be joined by her daughter Jenna earlier in the broadcast for a special look at their new children’s book, Read All About It!(published by Harper Collins).

During her day as a “Today” guest host, Mrs. Bush will learn the ins and outs of hosting a morning show, and she will participate in several segments and interviews. In addition to her hosting duties, Mrs. Bush will also give Ann Curry a rare look inside the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas. Mrs. Bush gives Curry a tour of the ranch, and explains the “green” eco-friendly design of the home.

Laura Bush has always been passionate about reading. An Honorary Ambassador for the UN Literary Decade, she hosted the first-ever White House Conference on Global Literacy in 2006, which ignited international cooperation to build free societies through literacy. In 2001 she joined with the Library of Congress to launch the first National Book Festival in Washington, DC. As First Lady of Texas, Mrs. Bush founded the statewide Texas Book Festival in 1995. She taught in Dallas, Houston, and Austin public schools. Read All About It! is her first book.
