The Fake Head of NBC Has Some Thoughts on MSNBC

Frequent Huffington Post contributor Alec Baldwin wrote a post today about “why we need the New York Times.”

But within the column – a critique of two MSNBC programs.

He’s “a fan of” Countdown with Keith Olbermann and The Rachel Maddow Show. But of Olbermann, Baldwin writes, “He wastes too much time pissing on Bush and his deposed cronies.” And of Maddow – “She is smart and charming but her writers are dreadful and the less cutesy she is, the better. She did an excellent interview with Colin Powell recently. The next night, I missed that tougher, less avuncular Rachel.”

Maddow tells TVNewser, “My production company, ‘Dreadful, Cutesy and Avuncular’ will be issuing a response, in rhyme, shortly.”

If Baldwin, aka Jack Donaghy, president of east coast television and microwave oven programming on NBC’s “30 Rock,” checked out Countdown last night he may have been surprised with the lead — a 7-minute segment about how wiretaps have expanded in the Obama administration. “Welcome to change you cannot believe in, or sue over,” said Olbermann.
